Swahili is spoken by the seventh largest group of people in the world. It, along with English, is the trade language of East Africa, as well as other countries such as the Congo, Rwanda, Malawi, Burundi and others. 

The study of foreign language, literature, and culture gives students direct access to different parts of the world and at the same time provides them with novel perspectives from which to view American life.
