The Office of General Counsel ("OGC") manages and supervises all legal affairs for the University. The General Counsel serves as the legal officer to the Board of Regents and the University. This office provides legal advice to the President, Board of Regents, faculty and administration on a broad array of legal issues and represents the University in all legal proceedings.

n recent years, there has been a call for law schools to increase their emphasis on teaching practical lawyering skills. A well-rounded legal curriculum should teach students how to think about and analyze difficult legal problems, and to consider them in the light of public policy; but it also must ensure that its students know how to perform the day-to-day tasks required of a practicing lawyer.

Long before law schools across the country adopted the term “practice-ready,” Baylor Law led the nation in equipping students with the combination of analytical, problem-solving, and professional skills to prepare them for the practice of law.
